GL: Fuel costs affecting boating?

Ahoy Fred:

Just returned from a 140 day "snow-bird" cruise from New Bern NC to the Florida Keys and back, a bit over 2000 miles.
One guy I know from Long Island NY has been taking his 42' Grand Banks back and forth to the Keys each year. No more. The cost of fuel has driven him to stay in Florida full-time.
I stopped at the New River Marina for diesel this morning; they usually have the cheapest fuel on the Atlantic ICW. Talked to a couple of shrimpers/fishermen there. They say the high cost of fuel is driving them out of business. They rarely go out now.
We anchor out a lot more than we used to in order to save some marina fees that we now use for fuel.
