If you're near major places, GSM and Edge are available. It isn't
"broadband" but it will allow you to get your email, etc. Beware of roaming
charges. It cost me about $5/day to grab my email a few times each day.
There are probably ways to reduce that fee.
GSM might be available on some of the other islands now - I intend to
experiment with that next Winter. Last time we were there we didn't have a
problem with voice calls but couldn't get an internet connection in the
Abacos.
In the Abacos and other more populated places, WiFi is pretty well available
for a reasonable fee (free in some restaurants, etc). We didn't have an
issue staying connected when we needed to. A long range WiFi antenna really
helps to stay connected on the boat itself at anchor (which we did also).
I'd assume that some marinas are starting to install WiFi now too.
It would be nice to know if recent visitors to the Abacos had an Edge
connection available.
