As regards the potential for heatlamps to come adrift, I have also read that article and took it seriously. Without going into too much detail regarding the "cages" that I used to enclose the heatlamps, suffice it to say that they will not "come adrift and set the boat afire". The reason that I used them is that they operate on the basis of radiant heat versus primarily convected heat, and for physical reasons that was necessart to do an effective job of heating my tanks. It also meant that I did not have any heating device under my tanks where fuel from a leak could fall on them with less than desireable results. One extra bit of information is that the two lamps per room are wired in series, thus achieving about 67% heat from each, and making the lifetime almost infinite due to the lower temperature that the filaments run at.
