Actually it is but thru a system that the car manufacturer uses to make sure
the emissions are not directly vented into the atmosphere. Usually some kind
of canister with charcoal or similar and pressure/vacuum limiting valves.
Pretty sophisticated parts of the total emission system of todays cars.

I sure hope we don't need to put these types of systems on our boats!
