GL: Coolant loss

I once over-tightened my fan belt which caused the circulating pump
bearing/water seal to fail. Coolant loss occurred only during operation of
the engine and for a short time after shutdown. Mostly it was water
vapor/steam and impossible to find while running the engine. I even
invested in a cooling system pressure tester to find this leak, but pressure
held steady for hours at a time.

I was finally able to trace a drip of coolant from the bottom of the engine
up to the pump bearing. My advice would be to warm the engine and then shut
it down. Get down there in the dark with a flashlight and see if you can
detect any seeps of steam. Also check any cooler/heat exchangers for
problems - take them off and have a radiator shop test them. or do it with
your own tester.

As for cross-posting to T&T (a better place for this question, IMHO), once
posted here, it is not possible to NOT cross-post there if you are going
over the same issue again. Some folks don't like seeing the same stuff in
both places - I have no idea how many on one list are members of the other.
