Yes indeed.  That is why more and more marina owners will not allow  
boat owners to work on their own boats and also require all outside  
contractors to submit proof of insurance before working in their boat  
yards.

A bad fire at Georgetown Yacht Basin on the Sassafras River  
(Chesapeake Bay) burned 7 or 8 boats and destroyed part of a boat  
shed several years ago (a heat lamp was left on to cure a fiberglass  
repair).  Repairs to the boat shed are still waiting for insurance  
money and/or litigation to be completed.
