For those of you who will have descended the rivers soon enough, the Florida
Seafood Festival happens during the first Saturday of November every year.

We have made it a habit to run the ditch down there every year we can. The
last 20-30 miles are the last pristine sections of cypress-line waterway and
my personal favorite.

Forget about dockage in Apalach; the few slips available are permanently
reserved as are beds in the historic Gibson Inn. About 15 years ago it was
actually possible to arrive on Thursday and get one of the $10/night,
no-services slots alongside the city pier, sometimes rafted three deep, but
no more.

We typically anchor in the river with one anchor upstream and one down
because of the reversing tidal flow.

Good, small town fun.
