Elliott,
You have listed all the reporting stations for the west end of the North
Channel. Unfortunately there is not one very close to Detour
Passage/Drummond Island. Which one you choose really depends on whether you
want to head for the north side of the North Channel immediately (I assume
that you will go there at some point in any event) or whether you want to go
along the south side to Gore Bay. The usual route to take is to go north of
Drummond Island unless you are coming from down the Michigan shore of Lake
Huron. There are some good anchorages just on the US side of the border
there so you have a full day the next day to make it to a reporting station.
I second the suggestion by another poster, that you be sure to go to the
north side of the Channel for the reasons he has listed. In that case,
Thessalon would likely be your best bet for a reporting station. The town is
not very prepossessing, but the harbour is easy to enter and the docks are
fine and there is a least one supermarket and the usual beer and liquor
outlets there.
Enjoy planning your cruise and enjoy even more doing it!
