GL: Reading carefully

I knew when I wrote my comment about BIG boats and speed in the ICW there
would be reaction. Please read again this passage from that post:
"I know that some will disagree, but it seems to me that running a boat that
size at that speed in many parts (NOT all!) of the ICW is like running a car
through a New York City alley at a hundred miles an hour."
In it you will note the parenthetical portion. I am fully alive to the many
varieties of water available in the ICW, and, yes, there are parts where it
is perfectly acceptable to go roaring along at whatever speed you desire
(proximity of other vessels considered). Heck, if my boat had the horses,
you'd be seeing me flying in those areas too.
The problem as I see it is the temptation to keep that speed up when the
water narrow.
I have photos of a fast boat in the trees along a narrow section of our
local GIWW (Gulf Intracoastal Waterway). The guy said he looked down at his
chart for just a second!
What if another boat had been in his path? As it was, his boat and pride
were the only victims.
Anyway, let's try to read each other's posts carefully so as not to
misconstrue each other's points.
