GL: Sunken Yacht in the ICW near Belhaven, NC

I wouldn't worry too much about the ICW having trawler-sinking debris
because at trawler speed, the buoy that 50+ footer yacht hit going "22 knots
an hour" is probably more likely to be pushed away by the boat's pressure
wave with a lighter strike than that speedster got.

I know that some will disagree, but it seems to me that running a boat that
size at that speed in many parts (NOT all!) of the ICW is like running a car
through a New York City alley at a hundred miles an hour. Asking for
trouble.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't take the precautions mentioned in the
original post like having a ditch bag handy. I am more likely to take a
good hard look at our ditch bag's contents as distance from land increases
and water temps decrease.
