The AAA is a great asset in planning a trip, even by boat. Configure a
hypothetical trip by car along the route that you intend to take. Most of the
Loop
is near established highways, even in Georgian Bay. Note the towns and cities
along the way. If you are an AAA member you can get a TripTik for the
imaginary
auto trip. It will list all attractions, resturants, museums, and natural
sights near the route. A long walk or a short cab ride should get you to most
of
them.

When we did the Erie Canal portion of the Loop we rented a car in several
places and spent a few days exploring local sights. In fact in the Finger
Lakes
we dawdled for a week taking an extended tour of the Cayuga and Senaca
wineries. Fortunately we had a friend who served as a designated driver.
