GL: Essential equipment for the Loop

Bill, you are type of person I would be more than happy to follow!  
What you have done, things you have seen, I could only hope to have 
such wonderful stories to tell.
I had been on your site the other day, will take some time to review 
everything you have out here, knowing me I will go over your web area 
twice.
Question: What tricks do you have up your sleeve to find those 
wonderful small rivers.  I plan on hitting as many inlets/rivers as I 
can durning my loop.  Personally, I will find it more enjoyable than 
heading down one of the major rivers/ICW waterways.
