GL: 19 foot looper wannabe

Regarding the quest of Matt Smith to do the loop, he and others who have  
posted might be interested in reading William Least Heat Moon's account of   
traveling across the nation by water "River Horse" east to west (some portaging)  
in a 25 foot Cape Dory. T'was quite an adventure. He had earlier written "Blue 
 Highways" about a road trip across the good ole USA. (current administration 
not  withstanding)
