GL: Punta Gorda to Marathon

Hi Folks,
    We just made almost that same trip. We left Egmont Key outside Tampa, 
and took the intercostal to Pine island (St. James City). Then we left out 
of San Carlos Bay and pretty much followed the "3 mile line" to a point 
south of Marco Island. (25 47.906N, 81 42.972W). from here a straight line 
to 25 46.534N, 81 39.567W. This is where a shallow spot is. There is 13ft of 
water between the two shallows. Check your chart at this position. From here 
its almost a straight line to West Pass (25 50.376N, 081 29.241W) where we 
put the hook down for several days. Very nice, quiet, well protected and 
good holding. Just a bit further south is Indian Key Pass. You could dingy 
in to Everglades City if you wanted to.
   We left West Pass and made a straight run to Marathon.
We Draft 4.5 feet and had plenty of water!
