GL: Punta Gorda to Marathon

We are currently in Punta Gorda preparing to leave for Marathon. Among the
possible stops are the inside to  Goodland and Everglades City from S Marco
Is.
then outside to  Little Shark and Flamingo. We have heard the inside is
challenging at best and  ill advised, while Flamingo is silted in and in
disrepair.
Any suggestions,  insights based on recent experience or advice is welcomed.
