It doesn't happen often, but in this case, I disagree with Elaine.
I can't see any reason to stop 40 minutes drive from Montreal in Ste-Anne-de
Bellevue if your real destination is the Old Montreal.
Ste-Anne-de Bellevue is a very very noisy place all night long, because of
the highway and the railroad, heavy-duty train every two hours or so.
Whatever is your boat, it will wake you up. Plus, the local train to
downtown close relatively early at night. Forget the bus, it's about an hour
and a half. Taxi ? 50 $.
No need either to bring your boat in the expensive harbor of the old
Montreal. There is a little marina at La Ronde, on Ile Ste-Hilhne. It was
the site of Expo 67. From there, you can walk to the subway on the island
(yes, subway directly to downtown), walk or bike to the casino or take your
own dinghy to be in the Old Montreal in 10 minutes.
Or you can anchor free almost anywhere between the locks of Ste-Catherine
and St-Lambert, as long as you stay out of the commercial channel. From
there, you can take a cab to the city (20 CAN$) or use the road bike.

the
money it takes to stay in the big city. You can take the mass transit to
town
and spend the money saved on beautiful sight seeing and dinner in
> fabulous places.
