Morning All,
I just checked out the new US Gov. Recreation site, it replaces
nps.gov,
reservations.gov and whatever else they had out there for US parks
etc.
Excellent new site.

'America the Beautiful Pass'. It is $80 for the
pass, it is for 'Permanent US
Residents', 'US Citizens', not
transferable, good for one(1) year, if you
loose it, you buy a new one.

OK, my 2 cents. I would go across the Erie Canal from
Waterford to
Oswego, then cross Lake Ontario to Kingston and do the Rideau
to
Ottawa. Going *down *the step locks in Ottawa is better for a first
timer than going up. Go down the Ottawa River and visit Montreal by
staying
at the lock in Sainte Anne-de-Bellevue and save the money it
takes to stay
in the big city. You can take the mass transit to town
and spend the money
saved on beautiful sight seeing and dinner in
fabulous places. Then go on
the St Lawrence to Sorel and down the
Richelieu to Lake Champlain and back
to the Hudson. That way you are
not going against the current at any time
and you can get your legs
about you on the Erie Canal, the easiest route to
get started on.
There, I had my say.
