We did the Loop in 03 and to this day my wife and I both agree the Erie Canal was the best part of the whole trip. We were hoping to do the Erie again last year but the bad weather stopped those plans. If you have a chance to do the Erie grab it. Even if you only take a couple of weeks and rent one of the canal boats for a bare boar charter. You will love it for sure!!!!
