GL: Credit card fees for charges in Canada

We have been taking our "Holidays" in Canada for more than 60 years.   
Also when doing the Great Loop.  Our advise is to use your DEBIT CARD  
and not use a credit card.  Your best bet is to go into a Bank and  
make a Debit Card withdrawal (no charge) for cash.  We installed a  
Brinks counter safe on our boat for cash and other important papers,  
jewelry, etc.  Also a good idea to carry American Express Travelers  
Checks (US Funds OK in Canada).  Can cash large denominations at  
banks and most marinas for fuel, slips, etc.
