GL: Zincs on a Perkins 6.3544M???????

FWIW, on my Perkins T6-354 I do have zincs. They are in the
heat-exchange/header assembly. There is only one zinc per engine there.
While it is true that the block is totally isolated from seawater, the heat
exchanger itself "feels" the water, and thus the one zinc. In fact, I just
replaced mine, which were down to "nubs". My engine also has some
additional zincs that a prior owner installed. He cut the seawater lines
just prior to the engine, and installed some bronze fittings with a zinc in
each (one fitting per engine) and a ground wire to the common DC negative
bonding strip. Any stray current coming up the water from the intake would
first be galvanically "satisfied" with the zinc prior to getting to the heat
exchanger and eating the walls out or the tubes inside. I don't know what
the differences in the 6-3544M are, but I would have thought that the heat
exchanger itself would have needed some protection.
Ken.
