I plan to do both the Rideau and T-S this year. After reading Skipper
Bobs rundown of the various options for buying locking and mooring
passes, my head hurt. SB also mentions that you can get a discount by
buying before March 31. I plan to spend several weeks in each of the
two canals and just go one way.

Greg,
A cruiser only doing the Trent-Severn should purchase a Transit (One Way)
pass at $4.45/ft:
Transit Permit b Allows the boater to travel through the Trent-Severn
Waterway in one direction only
(a one-time transit where vessels go through each lock station only
once).

Purchase before March 31 to get the previous season rates. This is academic
since there is no rate increase for lockage this year but the Pre-season
package includes one free overnight mooring permit.

A cruiser doing both the T-S and the Rideau should purchase Seasonal Lockage
Permit at $8.50/ft since this is cheaper than two Transit Permits. The
Seasonal Permit is good for both Waterways.
Seasonal Lockage Permit b Allows passage through any number of locks
throughout the entire navigation season.

Purchase before March 31 to get the previous season rates. This is academic
since there is no rate increase for lockage this year but the Pre-season
package includes 10% off a seasonal overnight mooring permit.

One night mooring permit is $0.85/ft
Seasonal Mooring Permit is $9.90/ft (less 10% before 3/31)
Break-even is 11 nights.
The Seasonal Mooring permit is good for both canals.

Now your head hurts more than ever. The only alternative is Aspirin!
