If YOU are being overtaken, you are the STAND ON vessel, and your job is to
maintain course, not alter course to either side. (obviously once everyone
understands what's going on if you want to move over a little to give the
overtaking vessel more room, you can do that) It is the OVERTAKING vessel that
is to alter course to Starboard. The rule is still the same.

  If I am being overtaken, and receive a One Whistle signal (he wants to pass
me on HIS port side) , the guy behind me will pass me on My Starboard side. If
I alter course to Starboard,as you suggest, I'll collide with him.
