Sterling,

I think it has been well established (on this list) that the NJ ICW south of
Atlantic City can be somewhat "tricky". However, the point has also been
made that north of Atlantic City, and certainly north of Barnegat Light, the NJ
ICW is just fine with water depths running at a minimum depth of 5 feet and
tides not varying more than 6 inches. This is the area of the NJ ICW known
as Barnegat Bay. Barnegat Bay is an area not to be missed. Some of the
finest restaurants, marinas, shopping and activities can be found in this area.
The people are generous and friendly. Come in from "outside" at Atlantic City
or the Barnegat Inlet (calm days and follow a local) and head north. Go back
"outside" at Manasquan Inlet.

Not recommended you send the Garden State a dredging bill. You wouldn't
want to complain to those politicians AND leave them your address or contact
information. I would just carry on with your journey and "fergetaboutit" ...
yas knows whats I mean?

Greg
Living in, boating in and thoroughly enjoying the Garden State
