For whatever reason we skipped Manistee when we came down the western
Michigan coast in 2005.

I urge you to not make the same mistake as you come down.

We have just spent a delightful 3 days at the municipal marina. They have a
set of slips but you want to ask to tie to the wall. The slips are long and
you will be challenged to get close enough for just a single power cord to
reach.
Adjacent to these slips is about 400-500' of bulkhead with ample cleats,
power pedestals, and water which runs along a landscaped river walk. Town is
just on the other side of the buildings which back up to the walk. There are
resturants, stores, a grocery and an ice cream (!!) store within easy
walking distance. It is nice to visit a city that makes its waterfront
attractive and appealing.

The bathrooms are great, and they have a washer and a dryer as well as free
wifi in the marina office. Fuel and pumpout on site. (albeit diesel is
$3.20)

They get 5 stars from us!!

We'll give a few more early reports as we explore the top of the mitt.
