Tom:
Here are a few:
Guidebooks:
Skipper Bob's "Anchorages" and "Marinas" books (both).
Claiborne Young's books on Eastern Florida, GA & SC and on North Carolina.
Waterway Guide
Web sites:
ActiveCaptain.com (marinas and anchorages)
CruisersNet.net (Claiborne Young's Salty Southeast site) -- good for
latest info.
Monitor the samurai.com great-loop forum, of course.
And remember, if you really get stumped, a call to the local
TowBoat/US or Sea-Tow will usually get you good local knowledge. I
have also found that if you call a tow captain (when he is not
negotiating a tight spot) he will give you good advice on the shallow
spots like Fields Cut, Hells' Gate, etc. Don't follow him closely, however!
Good luck!
