GL: Charging while away

When I got my boat, the PO had an old ferroresonant charger on board. It
had a household 110V plug that plugged into a socket in the engine room. He
had it on one of those household lamp timers. It think it was on maybe 4
hours a day? Just an idea if you don't want a charger running all the time.
I have since replaced it with a 3 stage "smart" charger and it's on when I'm
away from the boat, which isn't often! :-)
