GL: Battery Charging (and leaving the boat alone)

'Lo All,

Interesting that this subject came up.

Two weeks ago, I had to leave the boat unattended/checked for a week,
while I was out of town. Of course, I checked the boat shortly before
leaving. When I returned, I checked the boat and found that the
Freedom 3000 inverter/charger had died and that the batteries were
essentially discharged. I put two automotive chargers on the
batteries for two days and had to be gone for a week again to go to a
wedding. I didn't trust leaving the chargers on the batteries, so
disconnected them and removed all loads, except the bilge pumps.
Fortunately, the Celestial has a dry bilge. When I returned, the
batteries' charge was essentially as I left them. All batteries on
the Celestial have PulseTech desulfators on them and the batteries
seem to be charging up ok - slowly at <12 amps.

Home for a while, I cursorily checked the inverter inside and out.
Nothing notable. All fuses and circuit breakers were good. I think
the charger diodes died, but am not sure as I have not disassembled
the unit enough to check them. This unit was made in the USA, so it
may be salvageable. Not having schematics for the unit I hesitate to
really dig into it.

Could someone please give me the address of a reputable repair house
that is familiar with the Heart Freedom series inverter/chargers, is
not monetarily/administratively connected to Xantrex and is somewhere
in the Southeastern part of the US? I would appreciate that.

Thanks.
