Colonel's Lady departing NYC area back on the loop after a week of shows and
exploring the city. What a fabulous place to visit. We stayed at the
Newport Marina, due east of pier 40, NYC. Subway (PATH) stop one block away takes
you to 33d Street or World Trade Center stops of the NYC Subway system for
$1.50 on a 20 minute ride. Ten restaurants in the high rises surrounding the
marina. Somecite this as to roily to use and we found it not at all
bothersome. A bit expensive at $2.40 a foot + $6 a night for electricity but cheaper
than a hotel room we found out. New wake fence has been installed. As we
departed due east towards Manhattan we noticed just south of pier 40 a rather
extensive anchoring area for cruisers. About twenty boats at anchor and room
for another 15 or so. Have no idea of dinghy access or depth. Looked at
79th street marina and anchorage and walk to get to the subway would hot have
suited us I don't think with the up hill climb.

Glad to be back on the loop again.
