GL: Discharge

So many people get so up set over discharge in fresh and salt water. If
they had a clue of how many sewage treatment plants flush their overflow
right into our rivers and water ways, they would faint. We went all the way
up the Ohio River to Pittsburgh and on up the Alleghany to Brady's Bend and
when we looked for pump out stations we could not find but a few on the
entire 1000 mile plus trip. When we stayed at a marina for 3 months on the
Beaver River, near my family we asked about pump out and they said they want
us to take the boat out into the middle of the Ohio River to dump and not
too near the shore or the marina. There are no pump out stations on the
upper Ohio River.(summer of 94) No discharge zones in the fresh water ways
does not mean all of them by any means. Bob and I had been shocked at the
lack of pump outs when we where off the beaten path of the loop. We were
shocked that so many right in FL and the East Cost were either out of order
or charged so much as to discourage you from using them.
