While not having brought my boat there, I am from the Houghton/Hancock area. There is a nice marina in Hancock. A short walk away for food at either in either Hancock or across the bridge in Houghton. Get a "pasty" which is a local favorite (a Cornish meat pie consisting of beef and pork, potatoes, onion and rutabega that harks to the area's copper mining past) . For a boater, I highly recommend the Ambassador restaurant in Houghton just across from the marina. They have great pizza and subs. Try a 32 oz long island iced tea "fish bowl" one you've docked for the night and tell Joey, the owner, that Gene sent you!
Try to visit farther to the north in the Copper Harbor area. The Keweenaw is a beautiful and shouldn't be missed!
