After much research, we may switch gears on our trip. Now it's looking like
we
will go the Great Lakes route, down the rivers, to Salisaw Oklahoma.
I have a couple of quick questions that I know I can find through digging
around, but thought someone might have a couple of quick answers.

The boat is a 406 Carver with either a 15 ft or 17 foot air draft. We get
mixed answers from Carver, and haven't found anyone yet to actually put a
tape
on it. Hopefully we will know that by the end of the day, but just don't
know
at this minute. Worse case is the buyer (my buddy) will be at the boat
Saturday morning and will measure it then.

Question one. Isn't the height restriction on the west end of the Erie canal
15 ft? I seem to remember that with some notice they can adjust that
somewhat? Is that true?

Queston two. (ok, group two) In the alternative, if we go up the Oswego
canal, down the coast to the Welland Canal, it is actually located in
Canada.
Do we have to have Passports and other forms to get through there? Passports
is no problem, we have those, we just don't have time to send off for any
forms. If there are other forms, can we fill them out on the spot?

TAI,
Brent Hodges
