Mimi and List:
I would think so, particularly with all the damage being done to
boats with destruction of fiberglass tanks, phase separation causing
water corrosion of some metal tanks, etc. I personally know about 5
boats on the Northern Chesapeake Bay that have had to have their gas
tanks removed and replaced (cutting a big hole in the side of the
boats to get them out - very expensive to say the least). We had a
phase separation problem and accumulated 3-1/2 gallons of water in
one tank this year and it cost us $800 plus to get the water syphoned
out and rebuild the carburetor rebuilt (even though we had added
WaterZorb and StaBill to the tanks). We are now using Starbrite's
new fuel additive - so we'll see how that works.
Everyone who has a problem should report it to Boat/US who is the
only organization who may be able to lobby our legislators to stop
this madness. It is not enough that we must pay more than a dollar a
gallon more for fuel on the water when the same delivery truck
services the highway gas stations a few miles away. Now we have to
pay more for something we don't want, that is causing damage to our
equipment.
