Dave is correct that some epoxies do not fair at all well with ethanol, or
ethanol gas mixtures (usually 85/15). I should have been a bit more specific
and noted that an ethanol resistant epoxy should be used. These are readilly
available. The "studies" by Boat US, and a individual boat builder used "off
the shelf" epoxies--and many, including the West Systems do not do well with
ethanol.

However there are specific formulated epoxies (remember that epoxy is a class
of compounds) which are very resistant to both concentrated ethanol and 15%
ethanol/85% gasoline.

Definately obtain one of the specifically formulated epoxies which is
resistant to Ethanol. One example is Enviroline 125U- There are a number of
other similar products. This come with a "gasoline/gasohol resistance, 100%
methanol and ehtanol resistance." There are specific chemical characteristics
which make some of the epoxies resistant and others not resistant to ethanol.
