GL: Killarney, North Channel

We arrived today at Killarney in the North Channel and
were very disappointed to see that the Sportsmen's Inn
Marina is closed and in receivership.  The majority of
dockage for Killarney was at this marina and will
certainly be missed.

When we visited Killarney last year (2006) we stayed
at the George Islanders Marina (on the opposite bank
of the channel on, surprisingly, George Island).
Dinghy or Ferry across to Town.
Cheaper, and funkier than all the other marinas -
definitely one of those 'character' places. Was run by
a charming elderly lady who had lived there many
years, and showed us her home (originally the town
schoolhouse), and told us stories of the town. 

Highly recommended!, along with the 'Mr Perch'
fish'n'chips.
