GL: Dinghies

       Glenn, we also use an electric trolling motor on our dinghy, and as 
you, we find it to be very functional.  Not sure what you are using for a 
battery, but what I have been using with success is one of those rechargable 
emergency battery car starter packs that you see advertised. It weighs about 
10 pounds and because it is a sealed battery, I don't have to worry with 
battery acid. It also has its own built in charger, so I can recharge easily 
off any 110 receptacle. The one I have gives about   an hour of running 
time.
        It might not work in for you, but for me was easier than lugging 
around a normal battery and I only need about an hour of use before I would 
be recharging.
