Linda and Dennis,
Unless you intend to spend every night in a marina----expensive--- then you
will need a dinghy.
The big question requires research.
If you are not pressed for space get a hard one as these are easier to
handle and a lot less trouble. I have had both and speak from experience.
You must decide if you need the speed to plane or will putting along be
sufficient. sometimes it is a long haul fr the anchorage to a dock.
Exploring can be a long ride if you are going slow.
Next question will be on religion or politics, your choice!!
Consider:
Boat--rib, inflatable, hard pontoon, fiberglass, alum.
Motor-- fast or slow, air cooled, water
2 cycle or 4
Where to mount: we mount on the outside of transom of transom next to the
dinghy.
Hoist or not.
Fuel tank storage: we keep ours on the swim step all the time.
