Thought all would like to know that there is an excellent monthly
publication called POWERBOAT REPORTS which is the "Consumer Reports"
for boaters.
It is published by POWERBOAT REPORTS, 7820 Holiday Drive South, Suite
315, Sarasota FL 34231. Tel: 941-929-1721. Web site:
This is not a commercial, but we have been subscribers for many years
and find the publication most useful and completely unbiased.
I also want to report that my electronics installer who used to work
for Furuno, actually recommended and installed a Raytheon RADAR on
our boat a year before we started our Great Loop Cruise. The reason
was that he recommended a 50 mile range closed dome unit - to punch
through rain squalls and storms. Plus there are far more service
dealers on the Loop than with Furuno. I also was a radar repairman
in the Air Force so I did my own homework! The unit works great and
no problems in 5 years of extensive service!
