Bob and Judy -
If you have the time, take an extra season and when you hit Lake Ontario,
and get down to Montreal, keep going out the St. Lawrence to Quebec, the
Gaspe, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Is, Nova Scotia, and then New England.
You can wind up back at the Hudson and then launch your westward travels.
The "Down East Circle" loop is fantastic - 2500 miles of great water and
great country. We did this in our Selene 53, Celebrate, in 2004 - was
written up in Passagemaker, but much more is on our celebratecruising site.
If you want more, email me - we've got about 13,000 words with pictures.

Subject: GL: Ideas for cruising the NE inland US and Canada
Over the next couple of summers, Judy and I anticipate heading north again
and spending one summer in Canadian waters. We'll approach via the Hudson
River, but from there we're trying to figure out how to cruise all of the
waterways, and end up back in the US for the winter and heading west for the
next summer on the Great Lakes (including Superior).
The question is, what is the best route to avoid duplication whenever
possible and still see:
Lake Champlain, Montreal, Ottawa, the Rideau Canal, the Trent-Severn,
Georgian Bay, the North Channel, and the Erie Canal west of the Oswego Canal
(we've already done the eastern portion from Waterford to Seneca Falls, but
wouldn't mind doing any part of that portion again)? We also would like to
cruise Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, and then on around the other Great Lakes
either as part of the Canadian cruise or the following summer.
Once we've cruised the northern waterways, we want to leave the boat for the
winter months (October through late April?) on the hard, ready to continue
westward.
Any suggestions about how to manage this?
