GL: Ideas for cruising the NE inland US and Canada

As Jim on Jazz said, there are may combinations and permutations.   I think 
it is impossible to see everything without duplication.  Here is another 
possible itinerary.   This one duplicates the Trent-Severn Waterway (not a bad idea!)

1. Continue up the Hudson to Lake Champlain, Montreal, Ottawa, Rideau Canal, 
Trent-Severn, Georgian Bay small craft route to Killarney.
2. Return via Tobermory, St. Clair R., Lake Erie, Erie Canal to Brewerton, 
NY.  (Bridge clearance on this leg is 15.5ft).   There have been good reports on 
this list for Brewerton as a winter layover.
3. Lake Ontario 1000 Islands,  Trent-Severn,  Georgian Bay outside route to 
Killarney and points west!

I think the above meets your objective but if it were me I would skip item 2. 
  I would continue west from Killarney and winter over in northern Michigan.
