Charles,

I agree with everything you said, save one.

It is my experience that the Tow Boat Captains usually refer to some  
geographical reference instead of mile markers. Thats why it is  
imperative that you use the chart book and keep track of where you  
are on on the chart so you can tell a tow you are approaching Bear  
Creek rather than mile marker 225 if you want them to know where you  
are.
