GL: Boat Mattress

I agree with Mac. A foam mattress on a boat can be
very comfortable. Like any mattress, they do wear out
and need to be replaced when time and use makes the
foam too soft. Our current boat has a very good
innerspring mattress and we average 3 or 4 nights a
week with complete comfort. On the loop in 2004
we had a new foam mattress and it was just as
comfortable. No problems. Both mattresses are
about 6 inches thick and sit on a plywood deck.

I think the ideal foam mattress might be to laminate
3 inches of very firm foam and 3 inches of softer foam
topped by 1 inch of "memory" foam.

When our innerspring mattress wears out I will
likely replace it with foam.
