GL: Erie Canal & Area

Greetings, Vicki & I are planning to charter thought a canal company this summer, end of June/July time frame, to slowly cruise the Erie Canal and surrounding area. There will be just the two of us doing the complete trip with the possibility of family and friends joining us along the way. Has anyone done this thought a charter or in their own boat. We are looking for personnel experiences along the trip and/or dealings with charter companies. We realize past experiences with charter companies are no guaranty of what will happen next. We have chartered 5 times with AYC in Washington State, the first four were great and the last a disaster. So if you have any Erie Canal information and experiences please share, Thanks
