Earlier I wrote...
"In Canada the last two weeks of July are "Labor Holidays",and boating
traffic really does increase dramatically".
As someone else just pointed out, I did mis-speak. These widely observed
holidays are unique to Quebec's construction trades. Many of these workers
have the entire two weeks off from work, and cause a temporary spike in
traffic on both the Triangle Cruise (Montreal-Ottawa-1,000 Islands) and to
a somewhat lesser extent, the Trent Severn system.
These boaters tend to be working aged, party hard in evenings, and are a
great fun loving people, out for a good time packed into a couple of weeks.
And, the ladies on the bow tend to be (how should I say it?) rather more
fit than many of we retirees.
