GL: Dinghies on the loop

Reasons for a dinghy--Even if you stay at a marina every night (which I could
not fathom)--there is still plenty of reason for a dinghy.

1. explore areas where you cannot take the larger boat.

2. set a kedge anchor if you run aground.

3. Sound out the water around the boat if you run aground

4. Go ashore for a hike or lunch.

5. If for nothing else, as a life raft (assuming that you don't have a
recently certified and repacked raft). Don't forget that within the last
couple weeks a diesel boat caught on fire (Probably originated in the
turbo--but maybe the electrical system in the engine room) and sank within
about 20 minutes. Without a raft or dinghy, the crew would have been exposed
to hypothermia and the outcome might have been fatal.
