GL: Heat Exchanger

When I winterized my boat, the starboard heat exchanger had some paint
peeling, corrosion, & one of the drain plugs broke off.

So I brought it home with me to fix.

 

I have most of the paint scrapped off & ready to prime & repaint.

 

BUT - some of the corrosion will not come off.

I soaked in vinegar for about an hour & that helped some.

 

Also some of the drain plug is left in the threads of the "plug nut" on the
heat exchanger.

A dental pick was not strong enough to clean the threads.

 

Help.
