Ray and All,
Without a doubt, your trip will have a huge impact on him.  When our son was 
6 we went to the Bahamas for six months and then continued to live aboard 
our sailboat for another year when we returned.  Without a doubt, this was a 
life-altering experience for him.  He developed a love of the water and a 
passion for boats that continues to this day.  It taught him to interact 
with adults because he was always included in the group when we did 
anything.  Spending 24/7 with Mom and Dad forms a bond for which you will be 
grateful, for the rest of your lives.
