GL: RE Bow Thruster vs. Stern Thruster

I am on my first year of owning a 40 Albin with a single. The PO had
installed a hydraulic stern thruster.
Although I would NOT call it useless,
it does have very limited
capabilities as far as I'm concerned. In a no wind
or current situation,
it will make the bot pivot approx on it's center.
However, when the poop
hits the fan and there is some wind, it does nothing
at all to move the
bow.
So yes this hydraulic thruster helps, but a bow
thruster will be much
more effective and usefull. I will install one
eventually.
Also, I have noticed that when I am stern light, as in when my
water
tanks are empty or low, the thruster comes partially out of the water
because of how the bottom comes up at the stern. It then loses some of
it's
effectiveness.
That's my take

I am thinking of
adding a thruster to our boat. I am hoping the
"List" can provide some
good pros and cons of each. Thanks
