Jake...by all means TIP! Talk about minimum wage...this is how these kids
exist! I usually tipped between $2 and $5 depending on how much they do (and
how many there are!). The more you tip the better the service! However there
is a 'beware' because they are not all trained equally! Some very little! It's
nice to be led to your slip in a strange marina but YOU are in control and
don't be afraid to tell THEM what line to take and WHERE YOU WANT IT PUT! All
too often (expecially in the spring with a 'new bunch') they will grab your
bow line and try to pull you in, which is not what you want! (where does the
stern then go??) They often try to stop your boat with the line in their hands
instead of throwing a wrap around a cleat, having no clue that they cannot
stop the boat alone! We always hand them the midship line, then we're close to
the dock and then arrange other lines as required. It is very useful when they
take the power cable/TV cable and do those hook ups for you as
they are often hard to read and get at without standing on your head with a
flashlight! Enjoy the loop!
