the following mileages for you.    

New York City "start point" to Mackinac Island via Erie canal thru lake Erie ?
NYC - Sylvan Beach = 288
Sylvan Beach - Detroit = 531
Detroit - Killarney = 298
Killarney - Mackinac = 181
TOTAL  1298

NY City Erie canal , up thru lake Ontario, Rideau canal, to Mackinac Island ?
NYC - Sylvan Beach = 288
Sylvan Beach - Trenton = 237
Trenton - Killarney = 440
Killarney - Mackinac = 181
TOTAL 1146

distance from Chicago entrance of the Ill river to St Louis?
Chicago - Alton = 347

distance from Mobile, AL to Jacksonville , FL around the Florida keys,?
Mobile - Fort Myers = 679
Fort Myers - Vero Beach = 425
Vero Beach - Jacksonville = 237
TOTAL  1341
