Here is what I think is the BEST intercom suggestion for fly bridge
boats.

Last year I studied this issue of intercom, as our Defever 41 has a fly
bridge and galley down below. When underway, often The Wife cooks in the
galley, but we cant communicate (I know, sometimes silence is golden!).
Coincidentally, we bought a new cordless telephone for our home. The
model we picked came with an extra handset and charging base. When it
arrived, I noticed it had intercom capability. We were headed to the
boat that weekend for a 10 day trip, so I took the cordless phone with
us to experiment. It works really great. I have one handset on the
flybridge and she has one in the main salon. She can easily hear the
intercom buzzer if I ring it from the fly bridge. But the best part is
she has a CORDLESS device that can be used anywhere in the boat, whereas
the wired sets restrict you to that location. Total cost: $60. Shop
around.
